{"slug":"one-acre-fund","name":"One Acre Fund","tagline":"Agroforestry at scale: equips African smallholders to plant over 100 million trees a year","description":"One Acre Fund is a nonprofit social enterprise founded in 2006 that supplies smallholder farmers in ten African countries with seed, fertilizer, training and tree seedlings on credit, and reaches millions more through government and partner programs. Its tree program distributes seedlings from thousands of community nurseries for farmers to plant on their own land, mixing timber, fruit, nut and fodder species. The organization reported 134 million trees planted by farmers in 2025 and 90 million in 2024, and aims for 1 billion cumulative trees by 2030.","website_url":"https://oneacrefund.org","logo_url":null,"founded_year":2006,"org_type":"nonprofit","scope":"regional","headquarters":{"city":"Kakamega","region":"Kakamega County","country":"KE","lat":0.2827,"lng":34.7519},"volunteer_url":null,"donation_url":"https://oneacrefund.org/donate","events_url":null,"featured":false,"trees_on_record":250000000,"primary_activity":"agroforestry","activities":[{"slug":"agroforestry","name":"Agroforestry","primary":true},{"slug":"nursery-seedling-production","name":"Nurseries & seedlings","primary":false},{"slug":"carbon-offset-planting","name":"Carbon offset planting","primary":false}],"updated_at":"2026-11-08T00:02:16.194Z","url":"https://treerm.org/org/one-acre-fund","markdown_url":"https://treerm.org/org/one-acre-fund.md","api_url":"https://treerm.org/api/v1/organizations/one-acre-fund","data_note":"One Acre Fund counts tree seedlings that farmers received and planted, not surviving trees; its 2025 report says it 'conservatively expects about half of these trees to survive to maturity'.
