In 2026 it added Trees for Today, which works with six community associations to give away larger native saplings with planting guidance and a follow-up visit. You can pick up a seedling at a giveaway, co-host one on your street, or join the volunteer Tree Team.","website_url":"https://www.ecologyottawa.ca","tier":"listed","resident_offers":["free_trees","volunteer","education"],"listed_source_url":"https://www.ecologyottawa.ca/treecampaign","logo_url":null,"founded_year":2006,"org_type":"nonprofit","scope":"local","headquarters":{"city":"Ottawa","region":"Ontario","country":"CA","lat":45.421,"lng":-75.697},"volunteer_url":"https://www.ecologyottawa.ca/sign_up_to_volunteer","donation_url":"https://www.ecologyottawa.ca/donate","events_url":"https://www.ecologyottawa.ca/events","featured":false,"trees_on_record":0,"primary_activity":"tree-adoption-giveaway","activities":[{"slug":"tree-adoption-giveaway","name":"Tree adoption & giveaways","primary":true},{"slug":"urban-forestry","name":"Urban forestry","primary":false},{"slug":"education-advocacy","name":"Education & advocacy","primary":false}],"updated_at":"2026-11-08T02:21:52.718Z","url":"https://treerm.org/org/ecology-ottawa","markdown_url":"https://treerm.org/org/ecology-ottawa.md","api_url":"https://treerm.org/api/v1/organizations/ecology-ottawa","data_note":null,"derived":{"annual_trees":[],"latest_annual":null,"yoy":null,"cagr":null,"dollars_raised_per_tree":null,"cost_per_tree":null,"trees_per_volunteer":null,"survival":null,"hectares":null,"transparency":{"score":0,"label":"Opaque","points":[{"key":"annual","label":"Publishes annual tree figures","earned":0,"max":20,"why":"No year-by-year figures found"},{"key":"recent","label":"Figures are recent","earned":0,"max":15,"why":"No dated annual figure"},{"key":"sourced","label":"Every figure has a public source","earned":0,"max":10,"why":"No figures on record"},{"key":"money","label":"Publishes financials or cost per tree","earned":0,"max":15,"why":"No financial figure on record"},{"key":"survival","label":"Reports survival or monitoring","earned":0,"max":15,"why":"No survival or monitoring figure on record"},{"key":"verified","label":"Independently verified figure","earned":0,"max":10,"why":"Every figure is the organization's own count"},{"key":"programs","label":"Breaks figures down by program","earned":0,"max":10,"why":"No program breakdown"},{"key":"people","label":"Reports volunteers or events","earned":0,"max":5,"why":"No volunteer figures or events on record"}]},"methodology":"https://treerm.org/methodology"},"countries":["CA"],"social_links":{"instagram":"https://www.instagram.com/ecologyottawa","facebook":"https://www.facebook.com/ecologyottawa","x":"https://x.com/ecologyottawa","linkedin":"https://www.linkedin.com/company/ecology-ottawa"},"programs":[],"metrics":[],"upcoming_events":[],"license":"CC-BY-4.0"}
